The next meeting of the Racial Justice Ministry is Monday, February 12th at 7:30 PM on Zoom.
There will be short presentations and discussions about current programs, projects, and learning institutions that have been successful in advancing equity in education for the many young people who have been overlooked. This is a follow up to our discussion last month of the obstacles to education that were created over the years in reaction to the Supreme Court's decision in "Brown v Board of Education" as presented in Chapter 3 "Burning Down Brown" in Carol Anderson's book White Rage: The Unspoken Truth of Our Racial Divide. The author stressed that a lack of education has a profound impact on the welfare of individuals and the economy of a nation.
As we continue to learn about and advocate for fairness in education, housing, healthcare, employment, and criminal justice in future RJM Zoom Gatherings, we will discover the positive and the negative reactions to the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and The Voting Rights Act of 1965. These are enumerated in Chapter 4 "Rolling Back Civil Rights". Please join us at any time with your ideas and enthusiasm.
All are welcome on Monday February 12 at 7:30. To receive the Zoom Link and the specific content information about the presentations that evening, please send your e-mail to Lija at [email protected]
