Dedicated in 1891, Sacred Heart Parish is a vibrant faith community welcoming parishioners from all backgrounds, cultures, and ethnicities. Blessed with a beautiful and inviting music ministry, excellent preaching, and numerous opportunities to grow in faith, Sacred Heart is a place where we gather together to celebrate the Eucharist, live the Gospel, and serve others in Christ's name.
The history of Sacred Heart is filled with names now revered in the history of the Archdiocese of Boston. Cardinals Cushing and Spellman served as pastor here, and more recently Fr. John Connelly and Fr. John Sassani, and now Fr. Dan Riley have led our parish to an ever more intimate relationship with Jesus Christ.
The parish served as home to the Deaf Apostolate of the Archdiocese of Boston from 2004 until 2021, at which time they moved to Saint Jude's Parish in Waltham. For more information, visit Boston Deaf Catholic.
In 2007, parishioners from St. Philip Neri joined Sacred Heart, enriching the parish and beginning a new chapter of prayer, ministry, and service.
We hope you will come to call Sacred Heart your spiritual home, and we welcome you to ask questions, get to know us, and dive into this community of faith.
On June 25, 2017, Bishop Robert Reed presided at the 125th Anniversary Mass for Sacred Heart Parish. Following the Mass, Bishop Reed rededicated the statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in front of the rectory building. That evening, the Sacred Heart community gathered for a celebratory dinner in the Bishop MacKenzie Center. Below are some photos from the evening.
Thank you to the 125th Anniversary Committee, all who helped and served at the Mass and dinner, and all who have made Sacred Heart such an amazing community of worship!
Below you will find a slide show of the Stained Glass Windows in the Upper Church, as well as a photo album of the event.
